Same for firmware, kernels, drivers, everything. I'm not an AI diehard but the medium-term potential for LLMs undercuts huge swathes of entire markets. For the long-term 10+ year vision, just put these capabilities in an open local model running on a 5W phone chip with no loss in quality or speed. Software rent-seeking will die, and for-purchase models are seriously threatened.

'source code available' predates 'open-source', and it implies none of the social aspects or centralized code repositories & collaboration.
